Meet Pish Patter

Hello curious Realmers,

You might know him has PishPatter, or just Pish. He’s 29 years old and one of our partnered content creators. He comes from “wonderful rainy” Scotland and has been playing RotMG from almost 10 years. Meet PishPatter.

Is making content your main activity? If not, what is your day job? Tell us about it.

I am currently working for an electrical retailer in the U.K. as a Sales Manager, started off with this company as an agency worker in sales approximately 4 years ago and have had several career progression milestones since to get me to where I am today. My day to day duties are aimed around coaching and developing store colleagues on how they can maximize our profitability while also making sure they get the right thing for their customers needs.

Any hidden talents or hobbies?

My hidden talent would probably be my ability to sing quite well although I do suffer from stage fright, although bizarrely this does not affect my ability to livestream to lots of different people at once.
My main hobby at the moment has got to be video editing, most of these have been for work based projects but I think I’m becoming more and more apt at it and starting to actually like the outcomes. Who knows maybe there will be more than just two videos on my youtube channel at some point in the future!

How and when did you start playing RotMG?

I was first introduced to realm of the mad god through TotalBiscuits “Wtf is Realm of the Mad God” video, and I was intrigued by it to say the least, I ended up starting off playing with a couple mates of mine while talking over ventrilo or some other voice chat program back in the day (9 years and 215 days ago) I found it super fun and just my type of game, (My friends unfortunately did not after a 6 hour session only to die in a snake pit.) not too difficult to progress, super punishing if you make a stupid mistake, it’s also an MMORPG which has always been the kind of game I have found most joy in because of the social aspect.

Favorite Class, Dungeon and Item?

My favorite class is definitely the good ol’ trusty wizard, tonnes of damage and once exalted with the right gear really just about the best class I can personally think of for my playstyle. My favorite dungeon would have to be Oryx Sanctuary or Lost Halls, these two pieces of content really have given me hours and hours of enjoyment AND challenge which is definitely what I want in game. My favorite item has got to be Cloak of the Planewalker simply because it turns a rogue into a completely different class and stops it from being useless.

What other games do you play?

Other games I play or have played alot of in the past would be League of Legends, Runescape, Tibia and more recently Jackbox games have been a fun interactive game to play with viewers on streams.

What makes RotMG unique?

I think the thing that makes RotMG unique in my eyes is the fact that it’s still alive today. Massive props to the Devs for porting over to Unity and the community for their fund raising to enable this.

What are the things you love the most in the game?

The thing I love most about the game is you can literally put it down for half a decade and pick up exactly where you left off as if you were never gone, same mechanical game play, same feel, good ol’ nostalgia.

What would you change?

Stop selling useless weapons/armors in the nexus for gold.
Change the HP scaling system from being an exponential punishing system for streamers or public runs. My suggestion would be to have this based off of each characters %exp bonus (which would suggest gear level) or amount of total pots drunk for the class as a % to give an overall HP amount from a potential pool, in either scenario only a fully geared or fully potted character would provide max HP pool added. Say O3 had a potential 100k health that could be added per participant (minimum 25k) in the run, if someone had drunk 83% of the stat boost pots for their character they would only be contributing 87,250 health instead of the maximum potential 100k, and someone who had drunk only 10% of the available stat boost pots for their character would only contribute 32,500 health.

What made you want to partner with DECA for creating content?

My main game that I started off streaming on twitch when the pandemic hit was Realm of the Mad God, I did this because I knew there was a massive community of players who also loved to watch people suck on stream. Naturally as a content creator who mainly plays the game I wanted to partner with said game, be closer to the action, be in the know, get to see spoilers, get people hyped, it also has probably saved me about 10% of what I WOULD have spent through the benefits we get.

How do you see the game in 10 years?

The future is mobile and console for sure, once those ports are taken care of expansion is real, also I’d like to see DECA partnered up with a DeFi payment system or have one integrated into the game for purchases.
