What is your job? Tell us about it
I’m the community manager. This means I get to spend the majority of my time with you, the community.
Why did you want to be a Community Manager?
I’m a people person. I love to communicate and solve problems. This is what I do, no matter what job I have. Community Management fits this perfectly.
How is it to work with the Realm community? How is it different from other communities?
Realm’s community is quite unique. I could go on and on about how passionate the players are, but that might just be a consequence of having a game become part of your life for the last DECAde. Some of the players have grown with the game, and that shows. They know it very well. RotMG is, and always will be, a case study amongst video games in this regard and it’s an absolute privilege to play a part in its history.
Any hidden talents or hobbies?
I’ve already told this on a live stream, so it’s not that hidden, but I’m a big Norse Mythology nerd. I also love to cook. I started cooking when I was 12, and whenever I’m nervous or I just want to think about something by myself, I just stand in front of the stove and cook something.
Did you play RotMG before working at DECA?
Once. A friend of mine recommended it to me when the lockdown started. I joined DECA right in the middle of the lockdown, in October 2020.
Favorite Class, Dungeon, and Item?
Knight; The Admin Arena, of course! (I love the Ice skating feel of the Ice Cave, tho) and not one Item, but the whole newest Knigth ST Set… Although real Vikings don’t wear horns on their helms. But I’ll let that one pass.
What other games do you play?
I play Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, Fifa 2021, Diablo III, and lately I’ve been caught in the web of Stardew Valley. It’s just soothing to take care of your farm after a long day at work. I would love to have a real farm to grow my own veggies. Yes, I know… very hipster of me.
What makes RotMG unique?
There’s no way around this one: the way the community gets involved with the game is absolutely wonderful. I’ve seen and managed a few communities throughout my life, but Realm’s community is the most passionate, for sure.
What are the things you love the most in the game?
I really love that there’s a time in the year when everyone goes absolutely crazy with the game. And this year you can expect the coolest Month of the Mad God, ever. Can’t wait to share everything with you.
What would you change?
The new player experience. And I know that it will be done because we all know this and want to change it. It’s a matter of timing and priorities and I totally understand that.
How do you see the game in 10 years?
An open world with no loading times, with cross-play with all the latest consoles. A single-player story mode. And a simple to use map builder (much like in Mario Maker) where the community can create their own dungeons.

If your had to create a dish for 5 people and your career depended on it, what would you make?
I have, and we even had a small company event playing it. It’s very cool, but, then again, very time-consuming. I’m ashamed of my CS:GO rank. Let’s not talk about it…
My favorite dish is breaded chicken/pork with mashed potatoes – cooked by my mother (it always tastes better when mothers cook, right?)

Hey Wotan! I just read that you have Diablo 3 mentioned as another game you play. Have you ever tried out Path of Exile?
Yes, and it really has the potential to keep me hooked. That’s why I’m staying out of it for now ;).
So like.. can you help me blackmail deca into making rogue a viable class? or giving it some love with a new cloak from the shatters

Completely understandable
Thank you so much! Small question — on the last part of your blog, where you said you see RotMG becoming “an open world with no loading times, with cross-play with all the latest consoles. A single-player story mode.” Are there any plans to start working on these yet? There’s several parts of the game which take much more computer power than necessary and it would be really cool if there’s plans to sleek the game down like you mentioned. The DCs are frustrating too.
This is my personal vision only – I not aware of any plans. About the other question, the dev team is working on fixing those issues. Thank you!
Do you think that it would be ideal for the new player experience and the story to be intertwined?
Of course! We all love Lore here and we are on a path to give it all the love it needs.

If there was one thing you could change about the community, what would it be?
I would remove cheating and toxicity from the equation.
I believe and wish for the negativity to dissipate and whatever ill will to disappear and for whatever is to come to be pleasant and successful for all parties
