Public Testing: Ice Citadel + Adv Dungeons

Development Update

In the stillborn hush of the deep, where frost clings to thought and stone dreams in runes, relics lie buried—nameless, yet aching with memory. One hums with a breath too old for lungs, a fragment of sound that once parted realms, now drawing near what should stay far. Another, sharp as silence, slips between moments, severing what was meant to be. A third coils tight around the soul, a loop of metal and meaning, bending time not forward but inward, until the bearer forgets what they once feared to lose. And in a chamber of hoarfrost and grief, something pulses—a core of ancient cold, neither alive nor dead, offering power that hollows even as it warms. These are not relics forged, but remembered, rising through ice and madness to find hands desperate—or broken—enough to wield them.

Ice Citadel 

This weekend you will be able to try out the new item drops in the ice citadel as well, 2 new attacks in the boss fight and new mob designs throughout the dungeon. To directly access the new attacks tell Esben “Birth” or “Spook” when you enter his room.


Ice Citadel Items:

Updated: Staff of Esben has received changes to its firing pattern to make it easier to hit enemies with. Additionally, while shooting the staff will charge a meter and release a large projectile dealing 1500-1800 damage, scaling with the player’s DEF stat.

NEW Esben’s Vows (Spell):

NEW Esben’s Twisted Heart (Wakizashi): Originally showcased during last oryxmas, Esbens Twisted Heart will become a permanent drop in the Ice Citadel

NEW Ase’s Echo (Prism): On use places a soul as a check point for 10 seconds, players within this souls area will receive the berserk status effect. Upon reactivating the ability, the player will teleport back to the soul, detonating it, dealing damage to enemies and applying armor to players within its range as well as placing a new soul.

NEW Speed Exaltation: On defeating Esben the Neurotic in the Ice Citadel, players who have maxed stats will receive 1 guaranteed SPD exaltation

Advanced Dungeons

As you may have seen last PT we have been making changes to the two existing Advanced dungeons so they fit into the game better in terms of both risk and reward. We also want to give these dungeons their own more unique identifiers going forward, Advanced was originally a term used for Steamworks as it related to it being a machine dungeon, but it was just inherited by nest. Advanced nest will now be renamed to Plagued Nest, more accurately representing its theming.

Individual changes to the dungeons are as follows:

Nest:

-The Nest has received a full tile art update, replacing all ground tiles and walls with new art.

-The dungeon has slightly wider hallways and various rooms have been given slightly more playable space

-2 New room types have been added

-Beekeeper’s third phase has been reworked to be more interactive

-Beekeeper hp has been increased to 60k

-Inner tiles in the boss room no longer slow

-The teleport system has been improved to no longer teleport you if you are already in the boss room

-The Boss room closing sequence has been redone to give players more time to react to it closing

-Maggots go vulnerable slightly earlier

Plagued Nest Only:

-No longer has any damage increase, instead uses 50% healing reduction

-Difficulty level has been decreased to 8.5

-Has new art for the added enemies as well as some unique enviornment art for this version of the dungeon

-The beekeeper has minor attack additions during its fight

-Health multiplier in this dungeon has been reduced from 2x to 1.6x

-All Sick durations in the dungeon have been reduced

-Hives should no longer get stuck invulnerable when a green bee approaches them

-Some attacks in the Killer Bee Queen fight have been adjusted for increased dodging tolerance

Steamworks:

-The Boss Crusher animation has been retimed so it lingers less and creates less visual clutter.

-All Boss Lasers have a slightly improved telegraph

-Outer shots in Draconic fury damage slightly lowered

-Boss attack in Sawblade phase has been slightly altered to cover more area but have less threat of all the shots hitting a player at once

-Main Drill Shot in minefield has extra center shots to prevent facetaking its pattern

-The Center shots in the minefield fire less often (they fire at the old rate in advanced)

Advanced Steamworks Only:

-No longer has any damage increase, instead uses 50% healing reduction

-Difficulty level has been decreased to 9

-Advanced Steamworks now has a new Finale, a two part phase focused on dealing damage rather than just surviving, these phases do not have a sick aura.

-All Boss Phases in Advanced Steamworks have slight difficulty increases, this may be from certain elements in those phases  like crushers or bullet patterns being used more frequently, or might include a few small extra attacks in the phases.

-The Kogbold flying machine no longer has the ground steam vents in its advanced fight and instead has an additional turret in the center of the room to add extra pressure in various phases.
