Realmers,
We want to talk openly about server stability, what we’ve been working on for a long time now, and where things stand at the moment.
With the release last week, we introduced the first version of changes targeting the Account in Use issue. Since then, we’ve seen clear signs that it’s helping. The “Account in Use” problem is happening less often, and overall we’re seeing improvement on our side as well.
That said, things aren’t where we want them yet. We’re still seeing issues come up, and this is something we’re continuing to work through.
After these changes went live, some players started running into new issues, especially around disconnects and cases where items would revert or go missing. Even if this hasn’t affected everyone, it’s a serious issue, and it’s currently one of our main focuses while we continue working on stability. We’ve been pushing a couple Backend updates to attempt to get rid of this issue, the last one went out on 4/28/2026 at 4:30PM CET. If you continue to experience items getting lost or reverted, please don’t hesitate to report this to our community manager. We’ll continue to work on this as much as we need to.
To be very real about it, stability in Realm isn’t something we can fix with a single update or even a few.
A lot of disconnect issues come from very specific edge cases in the code. Tracking them down means going through different systems, and sometimes even individual items, to find the root cause and address it. These problems are often interconnected, though, so it’s not just a checklist of isolated fixes. Work on the backend tends to affect multiple parts of the game at once, which is why improvements can show up in different areas over time. It’s a complex process and it takes time, but it’s something that we’re constantly working on.
We have been pushing improvements, and we are seeing progress in the numbers, including fewer disconnects overall compared to before. But we know that doesn’t fully reflect what some of you are experiencing, and there’s still a lot more to improve.
When it comes to changes like the “Account in Use” fix, these are tested beforehand, both internally and during Public Testing. The reality is that neither of those environments can fully match what happens when the changes hit live servers with a large number of players interacting at the same time.
Because of that, some issues only show up once things are live. When that happens, we review the impact, make adjustments, and keep iterating. That’s where we are right now.
So what does that mean going forward?
- We’ll keep iterating on the “Account in Use” improvements
- Fixing and preventing inventory-related issues is a top priority right now
- Stability work across different systems will continue as part of ongoing efforts
We know how frustrating this has been, we understand it impacts your characters, items and experience in general. We really appreciate everyone who’s been taking the time to report issues with details, it really helps us track things down faster.
