Realmers,
We wanted to share an update on server stability, and more specifically, the “Account in Use” issue.
We know this has been very frustrating for a long time now. Server stability has been a priority for us for a while, and it’s taken time to get to a point where we felt confident moving forward with a fix for this issue.
With the latest release, we’ve introduced a first iteration of improvements targeting this specific issue. This is part of broader ongoing work on server stability.
Improving stability has been an ongoing effort. A lot of disconnects come from specific code edge cases, which means the team has to review different systems, and at times even individual items, to pinpoint what’s causing them. We’ve been addressing these, and we’ve been seeing progress reflected in reduced disconnect rates.
There’s still more to do, and we’ll keep iterating on this.
The changes we made today focus on how account data is saved and accessed. The goal is to reduce cases where players get stuck in login loops or encounter “Account in Use” delays.
These changes have been tested internally and were also included in our most recent Public Testing session, where results looked promising. That said, neither environment can fully replicate live conditions or player volume, so we can’t be completely certain how these changes will behave at scale.
Because of that, there is still a possibility that further adjustments will be needed once they’re live, or even that parts of the fix may need to be rolled back if unexpected issues arise. Your feedback will be especially important as we continue to monitor and iterate on this.
If you encounter the issue again after this update, please let us know and include as much detail as possible:
- What you were doing before it happened
- When it occurred
- What server you were on
- Whether you were able to reconnect, how long it took
This information helps us track down the exact cases that still need work.
We’ll continue monitoring stability closely and will keep iterating on this. As always, we’ll share updates as we have them.
Thanks for sticking with us on this.
