Realmers,
Server stability has been a major focus for the team over the past months, and we want to give you a clearer picture of the work that is currently happening behind the scenes.
Based on the data we track, disconnects during gameplay are now occurring around five times less often than before. While we understand many of you still experience them, the overall rate has improved significantly compared to where we were previously.
Another area we’ve been closely monitoring is server crashes. In this case we’re referring specifically to situations where an entire server becomes unavailable for everyone connected to it. Over the past months we’ve been able to nearly eliminate these events.
Work on stability rarely comes from a single fix. When something like a crash occurs, we need to identify exactly what happened, which server it occurred on, and when it took place so the team can investigate the cause. Each case then has to be addressed individually and patched to prevent it from happening again.
Disconnect issues are often tied to code exceptions, which means the investigation can involve reviewing different systems, mechanics, or sometimes even specific items that may be triggering them. Because of this, improvements tend to come gradually as these issues are discovered and resolved one by one.
You may have seen several stability updates pushed over recent months. These changes are part of that ongoing effort, and the improvement in the numbers reflects that progress. At the same time, we know there is still work ahead and the team continues to investigate and address remaining cases.
Another area currently under investigation is long loading screens, especially when changing locations or entering portals. Reducing those delays is one of the next steps in the stability work.
