This upcoming release, we’ll be launching Season 21: Blooming Oasis with the anticipated Equipment Rarity Update! Please pardon the dust as we usher in Spring and our game-changing item update.

Equipment Rarity Update

The Enchantment System has been overhauled, and along with it, a new face among the denizens of the Nexus. In this update, you’ll get to meet the new Enchanter and utilize his skills to upgrade and enchant your items to levels of perfection not possible until now.

Quick Start

The Equipment Rarity Update has gained new features since your last time testing this. A full explanation of the system is available in our previous PT blog post here: https://remaster.realmofthemadgod.com/?p=4447

The 900% boost testing crucible is no longer available, as it has been replaced with the proper S21 Crucible, but you can still acquire quest chests from the Mystery Boxes in the Shop to roll as many items as you’d like.

There are a large number of fixes and QoL improvements to the flow of Enchanting, such as improvements to Locks and Artifacts, so please try out these features again and leave any feedback and let us know if we missed anything.

New Enchantments

On top of some minor adjustments to the previous list of Awakened Enchantments, we have some new Unique and Awakened Enchantments for you to try out this PT. It is recommended to use the Artifacts in the Shop to acquire these enchantments.

New Unique Enchantments:

  • Any Weapon: Flurry of Blows
  • Any Weapon: Overwhelming Strike
  • Any Ring: Lucky Streak

New Awakened Enchantments:

  • Pirate King’s Cutlass: Molecular Blade
  • Staff of Extreme Prejudice: Artificial Core
  • Conducting Wand: High Voltage
  • Leaf Bow: Swarm Tree’s Wrath
  • Doku No Ken: Apitoxin
  • Ring of the Nile: Ancient’s Blessing
  • Ring of the Sphinx: Ancient’s Blessing
  • Ring of the Pyramid: Ancient’s Blessing
  • Fire Dragon Battle Armor: Drake Warden
  • Water Dragon Silk Robe: Drake Warden
  • Leaf Dragon Hide Armor: Drake Warden

New / Reworked UT Items

Some previously event-exclusive items have become available as core content drops in this update, and have received some balance changes and fixes. Any balance changes have also been applied to their original items, and they now belong in the respective dungeon collection of the new core items.

Maw of Malignance (from Perennial Cranium)

The Maw of Malignance drops from the Parasite Chambers as its 4th white bag drop, and has the following balance changes:

  • Damage: 150 -> 300
  • Range: 3.5 -> 5.0
  • MP Cost: 115 -> 100

We were able to apply some fixes made possible in the Spectral Penitentiary update to fix a pesky “untargeting” bug that was affecting this item as well as Tome of the Mushroom Tribes.

Bubblegum Bucket (from Helm of the Swift Bunny)

The Bubblegum Bucket drops from the Candyland Hunting Grounds as its 2nd white bag drop, and has the following balance changes:

  • Now additionally applies Healing on self for 4 seconds.
  • DEF: 5 -> 10
  • SPD: 5 -> 10
  • VIT: 0 -> 10

As the sole speedy-focused Helm in the game, the item needs a large stat boost to compensate for its limited niche. We’ll monitor the state of the item’s use and adjust if needed.

S.H.E.A.T.H. (from Sheath of Thunderous Rites)

The S.H.E.A.T.H. drops from High Tech Terror as its 5th white bag drop. The Sheath of Thunderous Rites no longer involves Legendary forge material in its recipe.

No balance changes were needed as the item was clearly the most desirable from its original release batch. We hope this should be a staple pick for Kensei to bring into the endgame.

Vision of Draconis (from Forbidden Artifact)

The Vision of Draconis drops from Lair of Draconis as its 6th white bag drop, and has the following balance changes:

  • MP Cost: 220 -> 200

Both item tooltips now mention that it creates a summon. This item should help fill a progression gap that Mystic has been struggling to bridge between her unsatisfying early game and the endgame power spike of Primal Arcana.

Echoes Prism (rework sourced from Corsair’s Crown Jewel)

Echoes Prism has been completely reworked to take on the effect of the Corsair’s Crown Jewel, with the following balance changes:

  • MAXHP: 30 -> 40
  • DEF: 3 -> 4
  • DEX: 3 -> 4
  • MP Cost: 120 -> 110

It’s not an easy decision to rework the effect of an item, especially one with a unique effect like this one. However, we couldn’t continue to support its play pattern with future content demanding more sophisticated level design such as the upcoming Ice Citadel and Grave of Eden. With the positive reception of the Vindication Prism, we decided to unload its effect onto the Crystal Cavern UT to give Trickster one solid power boost for the endgame. The buffs are rather minor for the time being but we will continue to monitor the state of the item.

New Artifacts

Last PT we introduced the concept of artifacts but only had a couple of testing versions for you to try out. We now have a wide variety of artifacts that should give you a good look into the kinds of things you will be able to use to modify your enchanting.

Tarot Cards

Tarot Cards are the most common form of artifacts and will drop all over the early game content and in the realm. These artifacts provide a buff to the chances of rolling one type of modifier as well as boosting a single unique mod that relates to that modifier. We want these to be common and used often by players.

The existing tarot cards are as follows:

  • The Devil (Attack)
  • The Sun (Dexterity)
  • The Tower (Life)
  • The Moon (Mana)
  • Death (Defense)
  • The Chariot (Speed)
  • The Magician (Wisdom)
  • The World (Vitality)
  • The Wheel of Fortune (Reward mods)
  • The Fool (Wildcard)

Dungeon Artifacts

These artifacts have specific drop locations and come with more powerful modifier effects. Additionally these artifacts will boost the weight of Awakened mods associated with the dungeon.

The current dungeon-specific artifacts are as follows:

  • Precision Cog (Steamworks)
  • Amber Honeycomb (Nest)
  • Ascension Ankh (Tomb)
  • Ivory Heart (Lair of Draconis)

Engravings

Artifacts were a system made to replace engravings, but we have multiple of these that will still be in use. These engravings are mostly converted over to single-use artifacts that can guarantee enchantments when used on the specified types of items, but can still be used on other items to get a useful effect.

This update covers all of the existing engravings except for the Adv. Nest and Adv. Steamworks engravings and the Lucky and Hard Worker engravings. These instead can be consumed to receive a stack of 5 of the associated dungeon’s artifacts. Lucky / Hard Worker engravings can be consumed to receive a stack of 5 Wheel of Fortune tarot cards.

Enchantment Balance Changes

A number of balance changes have been made since the last PT, these changes include the following:

  • Attack, Dexterity, and Defense flat stat enchantments have received some small nerfs with DEF now falling in line with the values of DEX and ATT.
  • Tradeoff modifiers now have higher positive values but also higher negative values.
  • Most proc (On Hit, On Shoot, On Ability) stat boost enchantments have been buffed.
  • Relative Bonus and Conversion enchantments have all been slightly buffed.
  • Weights of Awakened enchantments have been increased.
  • The Kogbold Spirit Awakened enchantment has been reworked to be more fitting with the Overclocking Amulet’s identity.
  • Hellfire Blade and Soulful Mastery have received some minor buffs.

Other Balance Changes

  • Seal of Blasphemous Prayer now grants Invulnerability for a flat 2 seconds, without any WIS scaling.
  • Quiver of Shrieking Spectres has had its SPD scaling drastically reduced.
  • Bone Dagger now has a range of 5.
  • Drake eggs have received buffs and minor reworks to match the new values provided in the Drake Warden modifier summon. White drake has had its duration lowered to 30 seconds in line with other drakes.
  • Dust drops have been rebalanced across the board and now always drop when completing a dungeon. Green dust from late game content will be much lower but red and purple dust should be more plentiful. Dust also now drops from setpieces and encounters within the realm.

Due to the high amount of stats players can now get through enchantments that were not possible before, we will be looking to rebalance some other items with particularly powerful scalings. We mostly want to focus on the biggest outliers as we do not want to nerf most down items to make them feel worse without investing in these enchantment stats.

Known Issues

  • Not all blueprints have been assigned to their dungeon collections at this time.
  • Some T5 armors may be dropping in unexpected locations.

Throughout the entire season, this can be revisited at any time through a new element in the Nexus: the Information Board.

Small Quality of Life Updates

Some other quality of life elements have been implemented:

  • Change Exaltation banners to sprites that match the exaltation stat they give.
  • Add the Kensei class to Guill’s “random” response.
  • Make green potions in Mad Lab bigger and flash before exploding.
  • Make Tlatoani’s Shroud drop in white bags instead of cyan bags.
  • Remove Woodland Labyrinth from the recommended dungeons for Life potions.
  • Shorten the Puppet Master’s introduction sequence from 12 seconds to 6 seconds
  • Players should now only spawn on the south side of High Tech Terror.
  • Bonus Consumable modifiers should properly give the dungeon’s special consumable instead of nearly always giving Health Potions.
