Development Update

Realmers!

We are getting closer and closer to Halloween. Now its time to have a look at all the upcoming changes, new shiny things and another look at the upcoming dungeon “Spectral Penitentiary”. As always, keep in mind that this Testing Session is always up for changes. Feel free to leave feedback on our social media channels and you might be able to see adjustments and changes made to the final version of the update.

Season 17 – Totalia’s Trick-o-Treat!

  • Halloween Nexus returns!
  • Spectral Penitentiary will be released at the start of the season. A detailed list of its changes since the last Public Testing will be available later in the post.
  • Haunted Cemetery Reconstruction will be released at the start of the season.
  • A large amount of content, both seasonal and non-seasonal, as well as QoL and balances, will be released alongside the season start.
  • Some Halloween staples will be released 2 weeks after the season starts, at the beginning of the Halloween Event.

Seasonal Content

  • New Halloween candies (enemy objects) spawn naturally in New Realms, and drop an assortment of goodies ranging from potions, bottles, T11 weapons, Soul Collector engravings, Halloween Costumes armors, and rarely Extreme Candies.
  • New Halloween costumes (UT armors) now drop from Candy objects in the Realm and from various bosses. Once in a while, you can wear the classic referenced skin and go trick or treating!
  • Halloween Bottles are back, with two new bottles added, the Pumpkin Bottle and the Frankenstein Bottle.
  • 3 new reskin Halloween event whites premiere this season:
    • Longbow of Spirits and Shadows
    • Shield of Jawgmur
    • Kagebooshi
  • Parasite Castle, Chamber, and Wine Cellar returns, with an updated drop table from Parasite Oryx 2 that includes the new event white reskins.
  • Soul Collector engravings allow you to improve the power of your T11 halloween weapons with a spooky spirit projectile.
  • 6 new Shiny UT items have been added.
  • New splash art is available upon loading the game.

Technical Improvements

  • Proximity HP Scaling has been added to New Realms. Encounters gain +10% HP for each player within 50 tiles.
    • Prior to this change, encounters would gain HP for every player in the entire Realm.
  • New Realm Encounter spawns are limited to unique alive encounters.
    • What this means is that there can no longer be two Ancient Kaijus on the map at the same time.
  • Minimap zoom scaling has been improved for use in the Realm and in other large maps.
  • When swapping between items that grant MaxHP / MaxMP bonuses, your stat value in either of these gauges will no longer be lost on swap.
  • Items that change your skin, such as Halloween Bottles or Evolutionary Records, can now overwrite each other on demand.

Ring Rework

  • New T7 (Transcendent) rings will drop from Oryx the Mad God 3, The Forgotten King, and Kitsune Umi.
  • All tiered rings have received a statistical balance update in which all of them have a MaxHP and MaxMP component.
  • Health and Magic rings received extra adjustments and have reduced stat totals on their main stat.
  • XP Bonus and Feed power have been revised on tiered rings.
  • Bloodshed Ring gained +2 WIS.
  • Magical Lodestone gained +30 HP.
  • Sourcestone gained two new procs: “Source of Life” and “Source of Magic”
  • Omnipotence Ring gained +10 HP, +10 MP, +1 DEF, +1 SPD, +2 VIT, +2 WIS.
  • Ring of Decades and The Forgotten Ring now have 160 HP.

Class Max HP Revision

  • As a result of HP loss from tiered health rings, all classes are receiving a minimum of +30 HP to their maximum HP. Certain classes may receive more than +30.
  • Maximum HP is standardized across classes based on their weapon type:
    • Sword / Katana: 800 maximum health
    • Dagger / Bow: 750 maximum health
    • Staff / Wand: 700 maximum health

Tiered Drop Table Revision

  • T5 (Exalted) rings no longer drop from Adept content. This affects the following dungeons:
    • Abyss of Demons
    • Cursed Library
    • Haunted Cemetery
    • Mad Lab
    • Puppet Master’s Theatre
  • Davy Jones’ Locker received a full tiered drop table revision:
    • T9 / T10 weapons
    • T10 / T11 armors
    • T4 / T5 abilities
    • T4 / T5 rings
  • Dungeon Mod “The Wanderer” boss can now drop both T5 and T6 rings.
  • Oryx the Mad God 2 now drops T6 rings.
  • Moonlight Village has revised and improved tiered drop rates for:
    • T13 weapons
    • T6 rings
  • Beginner Quest Chest no longer drops T4 rings.
  • Standard Quest Chest no longer drops T5 rings.
  • Royal Epic Quest Chest now drops T7 rings.
  • Moonlit Epic Quest Chest now drops T6 rings.

ST Drop Table Revision

  • Spectral Penitentiary bosses will drop the following Gen 3 ST Shards:
    • Spellbound Soulthief Trickster (from Soulwarden Murcian)
    • Plague Doctor Priest (from Doctor Lobotomik and Griefkeeper Zole)
    • Alchemist Assassin (from Groundskeeper Gretch and Overseer Oculon)
  • Astral Arcanist Mystic shards will now drop from Oryx the Mad God 3.
  • Oryx’s Sanctuary bosses have received revised Gen 3 Shard drops:
    • Shaman Necromancer (from Archbishop Leucoryx and Treasurer Gemsbok)
    • Mad Minotaur Knight (from Chief Beisa and Chancellor Dammah)
    • Oryx’s Sanctuary mini bosses retain their increased ST Shard drop rate.

Haunted Cemetery Reconstruction

  • Haunted Cemetery received a full redesign with new art and enemy behaviors.
  • Haunted Cemetery now has the following level structure:
    • Gates (waves)
    • Gates Boss (Troll Matriarch or Ghost Bride)
    • Graves (waves)
    • Graves Boss (Grave Caretaker or Pumpkin King)
    • Mausoleum Boss (Ghost of Skuld)
  • Only large minions must be killed to advance each wave, and waves can advance if you take too long.
  • Numerous pacing / timing adjustments to the zone structures.
  • Teleporter system has been reworked for ease of use and to avoid “trapping” players.
  • Plague Poison base damage increased by 200.
  • Resurrected Warrior’s Armor WIS changed from 20 -> 10.
  • Resurrected Warrior’s “Mystic Gem” proc now grants Energized.
  • Amulet of Dispersion has a new proc “Forgotten Power”.

Manor of the Immortals Changes

  • Lord Ruthven boss fight has been reworked.
  • Main branch length reduced by 10%.
  • Sub branch length reduced by 37%
  • The 4×4 bookcase structure now has a chance of containing a Coffin.
  • A new type of treasure room can appear at the end of sub branches.
  • Lil Feratu can now spawn in the dungeon generation.
  • Armor Guards and Hellhounds can now drop Bone Dagger.

Undead Lair Changes & New Items

  • A new item, Wandering Souls Spell (by UGC member Tyii) now drops from Septavius the Ghost God.
  • A new item, Ring of Skeletal Specters (by UGC member Mathician) now drops from the Lair Spectral Skeleton.
  • Main branch length reduced by 10%.
  • Sub branch length reduced by 16%
  • Lair Spectral Skeleton is significantly more common.
  • Reduced orbiting speed of outermost minions.

Puppet Master’s Theatre Changes

  • Main branch length reduced by 20%.
  • Sub branch length reduced by 28%.
  • Damage reduced by 15 across most attacks.
  • Knight puppet shield effect changed from Armor Broken to Stunned.
  • Archer puppet arrow effect changed from Paralyzed to Slowed.
  • Puppet Master and Clone yellow spinner effect changed from Paralyzed to Dazed.
  • Sorcerer puppet bombs have been adjusted for visibility.
  • Oryx Puppet artifacts no longer seek other faraway Oryx Puppets.

Fungal & Crystal Cavern Changes

  • Main branch length reduced.
  • Only 20 crystals are required to open the boss room.
  • Ring of Decades has received a major drop rate boost.

The Shatters Changes

  • The Forgotten King now grants a LIFE and DEFENSE exaltation at a 100% chance, as opposed to an ATTACK exaltation.
  • Twilight Archmage’s ATTACK exaltation remains unchanged.

Spectral Penitentiary

Murcian hardmode has been added. It is accessible after obtaining hardmode with both branch clears.

Spectral Jailers have been added and now spawn in the realm, opening a portal to the Spectral Penitentiary once defeated. They can uncommonly appear in any Veteran Biome.

Dungeon Changes

  • Lowered Torture Branch’s objective requirement (8 > 7 points)
  • Rebalanced hardmode timers to be more difficult to obtain
  • Increased dungeon cap (15 > 25)
  • Implemented Dungeon Theme
  • Decorated Murcian’s arena
  • Updated some less-visible wall textures to be brighter
  • Updated some rooms to be less annoying to clear
  • Changed enemy density distribution in hard difficulty rooms to contain less large enemies
  • Nerfed Adminbranch medium enemy HP values to be more consistent with other branches
  • Removed stasis immunity on all small enemies and some medium enemies
  • Torture Branch floor switches no longer consume slimes
  • Added decorative posters in the Administration Branch
  • Increased average objectives per Cell Branch end rooms (1 > 2-3)
  • Increased Administration Branch objective health
  • Reduced health of objectives in Torture & Cell Branches

Boss Changes

  • Increased boss HP scaling across the board
  • Reduced base health of bosses and damageable boss entities across the board
  • Increased base health of bosses upon meeting hardmode requirement (1.5x)
  • Reduced minimum phase duration upon hitting a damage cap (transitions out of damage caps faster)
  • Rebalanced most Murcian phases
  • Murcian now properly lets you leave the Penitentiary after the fight concludes (some people escape the penitentiary)
  • Murcian now has smoother phase transitioning to prevent periods of downtime when hitting frequent damage caps
  • Murcian’s keys now have a unique minimap icon for easier tracking

Item Changes

  • Cleaned up some cluttered item tooltips
  • Added new item “Jailer’s Scythe” as a drop from the Spectral Jailer mob
  • Buffed Tools of the Tarnished hammer projectile (225-245 > 290-340)
  • Replaced Wretched Rags’ -ATT/+DEX with a flat 5 dex, added +10 WIS (item swapping issue also fixed)
  • Doubled WIS damage scaling on Motivational Megaphone (15 > 30 / wis) and increased base damage (750 > 800)
  • Removed heal from Motivational Megaphone, replaced with a healing proc on hitting at least one enemy
  • Nerfed Sinister Syringes bleed damage (100 > 80 per shot)
  • Removed relative stats from Cackling Straitjacket, replaced with +20 ATT / -5 DEX
  • Removed MP and WIS bonuses from Cackling Straitjacket
  • Reduced Ocular Entrapment’s Eyebawl toss cooldown (4s > 2s) and removed the summon limit
  • Nerfed Damnation chain damage (220-250 > 210-230)
  • Nerfed Deliverance’s projectile damage (135-175 > 115-165)
  • Buffed Pandemic Poison’s base damage (1000 > 1200)
  • Nerfed Boundless Vessel’s WIS bonus (30 > 15)
  • Removed cooldown from Boundless Vessel’s energized proc (10 > 0s)
  • Increased duration of Boundless Vessel’s energized proc (3 > 6s)
  • Buffed Amulet of Restoration’s Invulnerability time (1 > 2s) and added a instant 120HP heal proc

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed issues related to Torture Branch enemies spawning in walls
  • Fixed a spawning issue causing more large enemies to spawn than intended in some rooms
  • Added more failsafes for smuggling slimes out of Torture Branch
  • Fixed an issue in one of Murcian’s phases where the middle portal wasn’t visible
  • Fixed an issue with the portal animation starting with the incorrect frame
  • Increased speed of some dungeon gen objects to prevent encountering entities before they can properly load
  • Decoy deletion taunts no longer spam chat
  • Cell Branch’s red switches properly remove their minimap icon upon activation
  • Various performance enhancements
