Are you ready for another Public Testing? Of course you are, and we have a pretty good idea of what you’re here for, so let’s get straight to it.

Spectral Penitentiary

While Skuld’s magic could easily manipulate the souls of beings across the realm, the emergence of powerful new forces has threatened to alter the natural order of death.

In order to address this unprecedented new danger, Skuld declared an order to reopen the very dimension that had locked away her past.


Welcome to the Spectral Penitentiary! I’m Marshmalla, and I’ll be your guidance counselor in your journey to fulfill your afterlife sentence. Before we begin the tour, I’d like to give a shoutout to our benefactors, as we wouldn’t be able to operate without them.

Without further ado, let’s get started!

Contrary to the usual event boss, the dungeon will drop from an uncommon enemy appearing in all veteran biomes, but that doesn’t mean they won’t go down without a fight. After all, Skuld doesn’t want to make too much of a fuss.

The first place you’ll be sent after your arrival will be the courtyard, where you’ll be greeted by our wonderful Soulwarden Murcian. He’ll fill you in on some details about how things operate on the Penitentiary before sending you on your way to one of the four unique branches of the dungeon.

After exiting a branch’s starting room, you’ll be given a specific job to do before you’re able to interact with the branch’s boss. The bar in the top left corner will track your progress along the way.

Bosses will administer harder challenges and more rewards to those that can prove their capability to complete tasks under an allocated time limit. The more people you have however, the quicker you’ll need to work!

After visiting two out of the four branches, you’ll get to participate in a meeting with the Soulwarden himself. He’s delighted to have you here, and wants to be sure that those that are worthy will continue to better themselves into even stronger citizens of the realm. To assist in this endeavor, Murcian will reward an Attack Exaltation to those that can pass his examination.

This will conclude our tour of the Spectral Penitentiary! I hope that you all enjoy the hard work we put into our facility and settle down nicely, as we expect your stay to be PERMANENT.

Testing Changelog

Although the Spectral Penitentiary will not be on the next release, the following changes on the Public Testing Session will be released on September 20th:

Balance Changes

  • Rogue cloaks that fire projectiles while under the effects of Lethal Strike now have a limit on how often the bonus projectiles fire to make Dual Blades and Daggers closer in effect.
  • All Katanas have had their minimum and Maximum damage increased by 5.
  • All Tachi minimum damage increased by 10, maximum damage increased by 5.
  • Cloak of the Planewalker teleport bug fixed.
  • Refraction cloak Lethal Strike duration fixed (5 seconds -> 2.4 seconds)
  • Collector’s monocle now gives DEX instead of ATT
  • Doom’s Emblem now has a base damage boost of 8% and a damage scale of 4.5% per dex 10 dex.
  • Doom’s emblem’s poison proc has a 6 second cooldown (still 0 seconds on damaging)
  • Seal of the Battle God’s attack proc now has a 6 second cooldown.
  • Seal of the battle God and Doom’s Emblem share cooldowns, you can no longer have both procs active at once
  • Furry flail Head Shot nerfed from 325 – 400 damage to 300 – 345 damage
  • Furry flail Chain shots nerfed from 80 – 100 damage to 50-50 damage
  • Fortitude reworked to be a direct Wand of the Bulwark upgrade

Dungeon Changes

  • Reward Boost Dungeon mod now additionally applies to MINIBOSS enemies.
  • Projectile Speed of Keen Minions reduced by 50% across all levels.
  • Reduced Umi’s maximum move speed during playful chase to make the phase more manageable in unorganized groups
  • In normal mode of Moonlight Village, if Umi isn’t present at the temple she will always go to do fishing
  • In leisurely mode of Moonlight Village, the group’s performance with the main dancers will determine the chance of fishing instead (like how Umi chance is determined in normal mode)
  • In Moonlight Village, Umi will help players fish if they are struggling
  • You can now walk on the water in the fishing area of Moonlight Village
  • In Moonlight Village Finales can now be 8 flamed and all leisurely mode phases can also be 8 flamed
  • Players won’t be able to overdamage the challenge mode bell and stop other players from receiving their extra loot in Moonlight Village
  • Reduced density of bleeding petal wall in Miko’s finale to hopefully increase visibility when passing through; corner novas no longer stack unfairly due to timing.
  • Fishing Rods from Moonlight Village now give XP bonuses
  • Kitsune Umi has acquired a taste for Blue Mushrooms.
  • Life / Mana potion drops are properly removed from Deadwater Docks, Woodland Labyrinth, and Crawling Depths
  • Cnidarian Reef now drops a Potion of Mana
  • Davy Jones Locker now drops a Potion of Mana
  • Mountain Temple drops 1 less rainbow potion and now drops a Potion of Life
  • The Tavern now drops a Potion of Mana
  • Third Dimension now drops a Potion of Life
  • 3rd Gen ST Token shards drop in stacks of 10.
  • Drop rate of ST Token Shards increased by 140% from Sanctuary minibosses.
  • Drop rate of ST Token Shards from other locations increased by 20%.

Realm Rework Changes

  • Lantern Holder XP and BXP changed to match other Adept level setpieces.
  • Ethereal Shrine has been reactivated in the Beta Realms and spawns in the Floral Escape.
  • Ethereal shrine spawns less Wisps in the realm
  • Rock Constructs can now spawn in the Abandoned City.
  • Beacon on the far west of the Deep Sea Abyss now properly appears on the minimap to be teleported to.
  • Hallows Horseman no longer goes invincible.
  • Hallows Horseman now has a fixed loot table that drops the biome UT.
  • Adjusted HP of enemies in Dead Church, Risen Hell, Shipwreck Cove, Floral Escape
  • Dead Church minions have their defense set to zero.
  • Shipwreck Haunted Chest animations are fixed
  • Mysterious Crystal display IDs fixed in the new realm.
  • Fixed forge properties of Crystallised Fang’s Venom, Fractal Blades. Crystallized Worm Spellblade, Burial Blades, Token of Warmth, Token of Happiness, Kogbold Multitool and Quiver of Thunder, Helm of the Jack-o-naut
  • Vindication Mercenaries are no longer immune to effects from Orbs.
